- Description Replace or upgrade the PCIe solid-state drive in a variety of Macs with an OWC Aura Pro X2 NVMe – PCIe 3.1 x4 SSD. Requires Mac OS High Sierra 10.13 or later. Make your factory installed Apple PCIe SSD into an external SSD drive with an OWC Envoy Pro External Enclosure.
- That’s why Aura SSD upgrade kits come with Envoy Pro 1, the beautifully designed, high-performance SSD enclosure to reimagine your Mac’s factory PCIe-based flash drive. When you remove your original flash SSD, it fits perfectly into Envoy Pro so you can transfer all of your data to the new Aura inside your laptop.
- I have an early 2015 Macbook Pro running Mac OS Yosemite. Last year I replaced the Mac's internal 500GB SSD with a OWC Aura 1TB SSD. Everything has worked fine up to now, although the OS still recognizes the SSD as an 'external' drive. I am now trying to upgrade to High Sierra.

But now I can't boot the os anymore. What I tried:
Owc Aura Ssd For Mac Pro 2015 Version
- reinstall from the Internet whit ctrl cmd shirt r -> I can run the Installation Program but can not select the ssd. I'm also unable the format the ssd in the hard drive utlility but when i run a check whit the disk utility every thing is fine.
- start up in verbose mode: disk 1: I/O error and HID:Legacy shim 2 then reboot.
Owc Mac Pro
It seems that the ssd is broke. Ok this can happen but it happened now for the 3 time ... is there something I don't know about this owc drive? this is not normal. Is there some check I can run to be sure that the ssd is broke?
Tanks for your answers and hints.
