Serial Experiments Lain English Dub

To me Serial Experiments Lain resembles those books one reads in high school English class that are supposed to be eye-opening but actually just sweep past the brain and go out the other ear. There is no denying that the anime is a groundbreaking and creative work, but it seems to have remained in anime history not so much for what it says as. Born from a cocoon in the village of Old Home, a young Haibane—a being with a halo and small gray wings—awakens to a world she does not understand without memories of her past. Named Rakka for the dream of falling she had while inside the cocoon, she soon becomes accustomed to life in the strange town. How to format flash drive for mac and windows. However, there are strict rules for the Haibane, such as being forbidden to leave the. Microstation mac compatibility. Watch Serial Experiments Lain (Dub) on 9anime dubbed or english subbed. I have finally decided to get down and watch it, but I'm still unsure on which version to watch yet. I know the series is meant to be a mindfuck but I was wondering if watching it in English might actually help? or does the dub lose to much in translation , or the dub acting is bad?

IMO It would be SUB because in the SUB the translator try the dialogue to be the more accurate posible to what the characters try to say.. thats the reason I dont like DUBS..

There is a dub, but it might be easier to find the sub. Either way, they're not very different.

I believe the dub is legally available for free, so I can't see how it'd be hard to find.
Anyways, the dub isn't very good, as the voices are rather poor. At the same time, its acceptable, and the only really bad voice actor is the mother.
I don't know how accurate the translation is or how the sub compares, but the dub isn't too bad.
I'm not certain the dub is legally available for free, but I think it may on hulu or youtube.

Well, it's on Funimation's YT channel subbed for free as well (not sure about dub).

Just this once, I'll fulfill whatever your wish is.

The quality of the voice acting in the dub is very good and the translations, when compared to the subs, are accurate. You could go for either one really. I prefer the sub because I feel the VA for Lain was better at portraying the subtle differences in Lain's personality as the series progressed, but again, you can't go wrong with either.
Oh, and you posted in the wrong board.

Given that Serial Experiments Lain is only in your PTW list, I have to assume you're going off blanket anti-dub sentiments rather than, you know, actual experience with the material the OP is asking about. Though allegedly, the subtitle translations for SEL were altered to soften the anti-Western/anti-American elements in the script, so it's going to be inaccurate either way.
I'd say the English dub is listenable, but unless you're a diehard dub fan, the Japanese version will be somewhat better for you. And unlike AngelDarkNinja, I've seen the show, in both languages no less.

Dub is okay but I guess Sub would be better. They often speak not loudly so it's hard to understand what they are saying at times, and you really need to pay attention to every dialogue to have better understanding of the anime
